{"id":80971,"date":"2022-02-10T04:38:55","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T17:38:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=80971"},"modified":"2022-02-27T11:21:28","modified_gmt":"2022-02-27T00:21:28","slug":"meet-our-newest-bowling-sensation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/sport\/meet-our-newest-bowling-sensation\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet our newest bowling sensation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TEENAGE sensation Darcie Brown bowled Australia to an Ashes series victory at Manuka Oval last Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>The 18-year-old took 4-34 off 10 overs, including the crucial wicket of England captain Heather Knight for a golden duck, as Australia won the first ODI by 27 runs.<\/p>\n<p>Brown says she is trying to remain grounded and not fixate over negative performances at the beginning of her career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI try to just focus on the present,\u201d Brown said to <em>SEN 1170 Mornings<\/em>. \u201cI don\u2019t get too worried about what has happened or what is going to happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just really grateful to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brown has had a dream start to her international career.<\/p>\n<p>After an excellent breakout campaign in the WBBL for the Adelaide Strikers, Brown debuted in all three formats for Australia in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The fast bowler from South Australia said she is not taking this experience for granted and is soaking in every moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the test match, we sat around in a circle on the oval and that was pretty special for me,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just went around the group saying what our proudest moment of that Test match was.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was probably the best thing I\u2019ve experienced.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the team have retained the Ashes, Brown and her teammates are determined to win the remaining two ODIs and finish the summer on a high.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to actually try and win this series rather than draw it,\u201d she said. \u201cWe can take a few more risks but [we\u2019re] always looking to win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8211;\u00a0BY CHARLES GOODSIR\/ SEN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEENAGE sensation Darcie Brown bowled Australia to an Ashes series victory at Manuka Oval last Thursday night.
