BENDIGO comedians have the chance to showcase their talent at Australia\u2019s top comedy competitions.<\/p>\n
RAW Comedy is coming to Bendigo next month, giving performers the chance to strut their stuff in a five-minute set.<\/p>\n
Writer and comedian Luke Morris, who was influential in bringing the event to the region, said it\u2019s the perfect opportunity for budding jokesters.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s odd that it\u2019s taken so long to get a heat of our own, but now we\u2019ve got it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity for Bendigo to shine.\u201d<\/p>\n
Heats are also hosted in Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat and finalists will have the chance to battle it out for comedic supremacy at the grand final event held during the 2022 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.<\/p>\n
Morris said while there is a competitive side to RAW Comedy, winning isn\u2019t everything.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe pressure of trying to win it and be the best at that gig I think is second to the experience, learning and community you can get involved in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt really just creates a big buzz, being involved in RAW Comedy\u2026 it gets that fire burning.\u201d<\/p>\n
There are plenty of opportunities in Bendigo for up-and-coming comedians, including monthly comedy competitions Cambrian Comedy Lab at the Cambrian Hotel, and Big Grebby\u2019s Gong Show hosted by Ash Greblo at the Golden Vine Hotel.<\/p>\n
