SNEAK a peek at what\u2019s on offer in the upcoming Bendigo Open Studios program at a preview exhibition next weekend.<\/p>\n
Almost every artist featuring in the Labour Day long weekend event will showcase a piece of their work at the Old Church on the Hill on Sunday, 27 February from 10am until 4pm.<\/p>\n
BOS committee member Ian Dodd said the diverse exhibition could give people a taste of what\u2019s to come in March.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s to give people an idea of what\u2019s going to be available, so we\u2019ve got one piece of art from nearly all the artists,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be a little bit of sculpture, watercolour, oil, acrylic, ceramics, all that sort of stuff.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will be doing demos on the hour, every hour so people can come and see what we actually do in our studios.\u201d<\/p>\n
The program was launched last year to allow for more opportunities to see local artists at work in their own spaces.<\/p>\n
Almost 40 creatives are locked in to exhibit over the Labour Day long weekend, including at Valentine\u2019s Antique Gallery and Bendigo Pottery, as well as their personal studios.<\/p>\n
A map of the region marking each venue will be available at the preview exhibition for attendees to plan their long weekend journeys.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople can get the maps, talk to the artists and then decide where they would like to go,\u201d Mr Dodd said.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s line-up includes painter Terry Jarvis, mixed media artist Sarah Wallace-Smith and street artist Mr Dimples, among many others.<\/p>\n
The preview exhibition will be transferred to the Bendigo Bank Exhibit B space in the week leading up to Bendigo Open Studios for viewing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
