WIZARDS, witches, frogs, fairies, pigs and pooches are just some of the creatures you\u2019ll find in Penny Scott\u2019s garage.<\/p>\n
Ms Scott is the creator and owner of Scimarec Ceramics, a studio she started from her home two years ago where people can paint their own pre-poured and fired figurines.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been doing ceramics for 26 years. I am also a canvas artist and do children\u2019s murals but ceramics I always come back to,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
With more than 3000 moulds and counting in her possession, Ms Scott said working with ceramics was a passion she wanted to share with people of all ages.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love it because you don\u2019t know what a piece is going to look like until you\u2019ve poured it and then, even though you\u2019ve poured it and they\u2019re all white, you still don\u2019t know what they\u2019re going to look like until you\u2019ve finished and painted it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all a process and they really don\u2019t come alive until you\u2019ve finished and done the eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n
After school sessions and school holidays are always her busiest times, with last Halloween bringing some 80 kids through her door and peak periods demanding she pour more than 100 moulds a week.<\/p>\n
However, Ms Scott said she\u2019s also hoping more adults will get involved with the craft and pick something off her shelf to make their own.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not here to tell people that they\u2019re painting wrong, I\u2019m here to guide them and to make sure that they\u2019re 110 per cent happy with their piece before they walk out of my studio,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
