{"id":81308,"date":"2022-03-03T04:57:03","date_gmt":"2022-03-02T17:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=81308"},"modified":"2022-03-03T09:15:51","modified_gmt":"2022-03-02T22:15:51","slug":"priscilla-to-launch-elvis-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/priscilla-to-launch-elvis-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"Priscilla to launch Elvis exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE King\u2019s wife, Priscilla Presley, will be in town later this month to help unveil the <em>Elvis: Direct from Graceland\u00a0<\/em>exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>Priscilla will be travelling from Los Angeles and Bendigo Art Gallery director Jessica Bridgfoot confirmed the news last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPriscilla plays a key role in the Elvis story and the continuation of his legacy, so we are absolutely thrilled that she is able to be a part of the opening celebrations for the exhibition,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The businesswoman, actor and wife of the King of Rock and Roll co-founded Elvis Presley Enterprises, which helped turn Graceland into one of the United State\u2019s top tourist attractions.<\/p>\n<p>Current vice president of archives and exhibitions at Elvis Presley Enterprises, Angie Marchese, will also make the trip for the showcase, which features about 300 artifacts owned by the late music icon.<\/p>\n<p>Military uniforms, his customised 1976 Harley Davidson, and a selection of his famous jumpsuits will all be on display.<\/p>\n<p>Priscilla Presley\u2019s wedding dress and other garments from the Presley\u2019s wardrobe, as well as the their daughter Lisa Marie\u2019s baby clothes help make up the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPriscilla and Angie have worked together for almost four decades to preserve the objects that are included in this exhibition, and their knowledge of Elvis\u2019 life is unparalleled, so it is such a privilege to have them with us as we launch this comprehensive biographical exhibition, which is focused on one of the most influential, iconic, and celebrated figures of the twentieth century,\u201d Ms Bridgfoot said.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan said excitement is growing ahead of Elvis\u2019 arrival to the gallery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPriscilla Presley coming to Bendigo for the opening of this exhibition shows that regional Victoria can draw an A-list crowd from across the globe,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><em>Elvis Presley: Direct from Graceland <\/em>runs from Saturday, 19 March until Sunday, 17 July.
