{"id":81315,"date":"2022-03-01T13:55:05","date_gmt":"2022-03-01T02:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=81315"},"modified":"2022-03-01T13:59:31","modified_gmt":"2022-03-01T02:59:31","slug":"big-fight-night-in-bayside-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/living\/big-fight-night-in-bayside-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Big fight night in bayside city"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Geelong is getting ready to rumble as a travelling boxing show targets a second straight sell-out of Geelong Arena.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WILDFIGHTER Round Seven is returning to the bayside city next month, bringing some of the most talented fighters from across Victoria to Geelong to square off in an action-packed night of sports entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Renold Quinlan, who held the International Boxing Organisation super-middleweight championship during 2016 and 2017, headlines the upcoming fight card with his main-event bout with Bairnsdale southpaw Blake \u201cBomber\u201d Wells.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong fighter Jay Dalli will enter the ring in front of a home crowd to face Luke Gersbeck, while the stacked undercard also includes up-and-coming Victorian fighters Cesar Afacan and Max Reeves, fresh off a knockout victory against 26-fight English Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Ross Pearson.<\/p>\n<p>The Wildfighter Gym Wars series will also continue for round seven, where amateur fighters from Geelong\u2019s Wildfighter and Elite Training Centre gyms will battle for city bragging rights.<\/p>\n<p>The Wildfighter series was launched in 2019 by retired world champion boxer Will Tomlinson, who started the tour to provide opportunities for high-quality fights in Victoria, especially regionally, for both competitors and fans.<\/p>\n<p>Tomlinson said he was keen for his show to go even bigger and better than last year\u2019s debut this time around.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m super excited putting this event on again, the first one we had was a huge success,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone had a great time and I hope I can replicate that for everyone that comes along. It\u2019s a fun, fan-friendly night out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe put on a really good show, we\u2019ve got world- class lighting production and good fights, it\u2019s good sports entertainment. We welcome all ages, genders, it\u2019s a good, fun night out for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Arena hosted the third round of the Wildfighter series in April last year, with the venue selling out twice for the event, once for its initial capacity limit, and again a week later after promoters successfully applied for an expanded crowd limit.<\/p>\n<p>Wildfighter has full access to the arena this time, and is aiming to attract more than 2000 people through the turnstiles.<\/p>\n<p>Wildfighter Round Seven is at Geelong on 2 April.
