STUDENTS and families at White Hills Primary School have welcomed new toilet facilities after works at the site were completed last week.<\/p>\n
The $70,000 upgrade was funded by the State Government and forms part of a larger project, with the school\u2019s old classrooms and buildings being refurbished following a $2.6 million allocation from the 2019\/20 State budget.<\/p>\n
Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan, visited the school last Friday to check out the completed works.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re making sure that our schools have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and that every child is given every chance to succeed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal families can now enjoy great new facilities at White Hills Primary School.\u201d<\/p>\n
The school is one of several in Bendigo to receive State Government money under the Minor Capital Works Fund, which is valued at $20 million.<\/p>\n
Recently, Camp Hill Primary School was given $170,000 for a new sensory garden project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.<\/p>\n
State Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards, said the fund is about completing small projects that improve learning environments as well as the character of schools, while supporting local jobs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re investing in hundreds of small but important projects that will make a big difference for schools and create jobs for Victorians,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
In addition to the upgrade projects, more than $10.9 billion has been put into building new schools across the state.<\/p>\n
According to a Victorian Government statement, the state is ahead of its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
