WHITE Night will light up Bendigo this year after the State Government confirmed the event\u2019s return last week.<\/p>\n
The light show is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, 3 September, following two years of cancellations during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
Greater Bendigo mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said the announcement was welcome news for the region, adding to its busy schedule of events for the year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe community and visitors to Bendigo really embraced the first White Night when it was staged here in 2018, attracting over 60,000 people which was fantastic for our local economy, particularly the accommodation and hospitality sectors,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is another wonderful event for the community and local businesses to look forward to and it further enhances our reputation as a major arts and cultural destination.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the State Government the 2018 event injected $5.5 million into the local economy, and Cr Metcalf said Bendigo\u2019s unique cityscape would lend itself to a strong show.<\/p>\n
\u201cBendigo is a perfect fit to host the sparkle and spectacle of White Night with our impressive heritage buildings and public spaces,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur city will once again be transformed after dark with stunning projections, visual art, audio visuals and illuminations complemented with music, dance, street performers and interactive works from talented local and national creatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will be working closely with businesses, community organisations and artists to make sure this event is a success.\u201d<\/p>\n
