THE Capital theatre is the first stop for Bendigo-raised Kate DeAraugo on her new tour, From Motown to Memphis<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The vocalist found fame after winning season three of Australian Idol in 2005, forging a solo career and going on to join girl group Young Divas.<\/p>\n

Teaming up with former Australia\u2019s Got Talent contestant Greg Gould and covering classics from Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner and even Elvis Presley, DeAraugo said she was keen to return to the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always awesome to come back to Bendigo. There\u2019s always a lot of support there for me and there always has been. I\u2019m super grateful for that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The show is scheduled for Saturday, 2 April, and DeAraugo said performing Motown standards was an \u201chonour\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great, fun show filled with the classics of that genre, which is full of those songs that we all know and a lot of us grew up with,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if you didn\u2019t grow up with them, you still know them. They\u2019re those timeless songs that never go away.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up, Motown and the music of Memphis was a huge part of our family playlist, not to mention my mentor and teacher Venetta Fields teaching me the fundamentals of both genres in my early years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to singing some of the greats.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeAraugo said she and Gould had planned the tour throughout last year and were \u201csuper excited\u201d to hit the road again.<\/p>\n

As well as regional Victoria, the pair will also travel to New South Wales, Tasmania and South Australia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
