AFTER a two-year hiatus, Bendigo comedian Ash Greblo will return the Melbourne International Comedy Festival next month.<\/p>\n
Performing alongside Melbourne comics Lewis Dowell and Raewyn Pickering, Greblo said he\u2019s keen to share his new material at the festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is number five for me, but I\u2019ve had the last two years off. It\u2019s so exciting to be back, it\u2019s such a good atmosphere, there\u2019s people everywhere getting around this fun thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m doing a pretty exciting split show with Lewis Dowell and Raewyn Pickering, who are two really good Melbourne comedians.\u201d<\/p>\n
Greblo promised 50 minutes of non-stop laughs, even if some of his jokes are a bit riskier.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a bit nervous about this show, I\u2019ve got a joke that 100 per cent relies on the audience knowing what a diplodocus is, and at the moment it\u2019s 50\/50 on that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Despite the pandemic, the comedian said he\u2019s avoided COVID-19 when it comes to writing jokes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t written any COVID jokes but I have gone on stage and told some funny thing that might\u2019ve been COVID related at the time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201c[The pandemic] made me go up the bush a lot just to try and escape lockdown and I saw some pretty interesting things, I came back to Bendigo and naturally a lot of funny things happened here as they usually do, and I\u2019ve been able to turn some of them into jokes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe shows you want to see this year, and mine\u2019s one of them, are the happy, fun shows packed with laughter, and you can just have a bit of a break.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe world\u2019s still pretty crazy so if you can get 50 minutes packed with laughs, I feel like that\u2019s a pretty good deal.\u201d<\/p>\n
