THE bricks are back as Bendigo Lego User Group prepares for its sixth annual exhibition.<\/p>\n
Bendigo Bricks will take place at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre on Saturday, 23 April and Sunday, 24 April.<\/p>\n
President of the user group Michael Peebles said this year\u2019s event will be bigger than last year, with exhibitors from all across Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no question we\u2019re all excited, myself and all the builders coming,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year we had just over 80 exhibitors come along and this year we\u2019ve got 110, which is fantastic.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery year the goal is to not have anything repeated from the year before. Ticket sales are going well for us which we\u2019re rapt with and that shows people are getting used to us now after six years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Peebles said the quality of Bendigo Bricks is on par with exhibitions across the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost people are pleasantly surprised when they come to a country event that has a quality that would stand up in any of the capitals, and they\u2019re surprised too that all exhibitors are just fans of Lego, none of us are paid professionals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not unfair to say that when it comes to Lego, there\u2019s any even playing field between professionals and non-professionals, which is great because it puts these builders on a world level.\u201d<\/p>\n
Contestants from reality television show Lego Masters will make an appearance, including Kale Frost, Fleur Watkins and Runa Lindblom.<\/p>\n
In the lead up to the exhibition, there is a Bendigo Bricks pride display in the library for the Bendigo Pride Festival, and there will be a special Easter activity in Rosalind Park, with people invited to help create a Lego mural of an iconic Bendigo scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
