PULL up a chair and watch the Way of the Cross performance as it returns to the city streets for the first time in twenty-two years during the Easter Fair.<\/p>\n
The show\u2019s committee chair David Wright said the passion play would re-enact the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, and those involved were excited and fulfilled to help bring it back.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis hasn\u2019t happened now for 22 years and that\u2019s part of the reason for doing it. Being the 150th fair, the Easter Fair Society are trying to bring back some of the features of previous years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Way of the Cross ran for about 12 years and was a significant part of the Easter Fair until it fell off the perch.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a cast in excess of 40 local people as actors to put on this performance and it\u2019s being directed by Vern Wall who is well known as a local theatre director with vast experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
Unlike previous years when it was a moving show around the Town Hall precinct, this year\u2019s performance will be held entirely on the steps of The Capital on View Street, with the venue\u2019s Corinthian architecture the \u201cideal background\u201d according to Mr Wright.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an event that is truly Bendigonian and put on for the public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The free show is scheduled for 8pm tomorrow night and people are encouraged to bring a chair to watch from the street.<\/p>\n
Parts of View Street will be closed to traffic throughout the Easter Fair, including during the performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
