OLDER residents can learn about aged care and how to stay connected in the community at a free seniors expo next month.<\/p>\n
Be Well, Be Connected Seniors Expo will be held on Thursday, 5 May from 10am to 3pm at the Town Hall, Bendigo Library and nearby garden.<\/p>\n
The event is being hosted by the City of Greater Bendigo and community wellbeing manager Richie Evans said there would be plenty on offer for attendees with over 30 exhibits planned.<\/p>\n
\u201cVisitors to the expo will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with service providers and support groups, as well as participate in activities such as yoga, dancing and enjoy some entertainment provided by local performers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will also be a presentation from 11am to 12pm in the Bendigo Town Hall featuring the Victorian Government\u2019s Commissioner for Senior Victorians, Gerard Mansour, who will discuss preventing social isolation and loneliness.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Evans said the expo\u2019s theme of wellbeing and connection focused on the importance of seniors staying active in their community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe City is committed to supporting older residents to live in their homes longer, enjoy activities in their own community and live better and more connected lives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone is welcome to come along to the expo. It will be a great opportunity to learn about Commonwealth Home Support Services and what is on offer in Greater Bendigo to assist older people in our community to be more informed.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
