AFL Media reporter Cal Twomey has provided updates on out-of-contract Essendon pair Nic Martin and Kyle Langford.<\/p>\n

Twomey is reporting that Bombers\u2019 sensation Martin is closing in on a new deal after his impressive start to his AFL career, while Langford has also opened contract talks.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s closing in on a new deal at the Bombers, which will reward him for his hot start to the AFL season. Likely to be a two-year deal,\u201d Twomey told SEN Breakfast<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis signing only weeks before the season started as a pre-season rookie means he\u2019s only at the moment contracted for this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bombers have been quick to get on the front foot and try and lock him in, as they should, because he\u2019s been terrific.\u201d<\/p>\n

Langford, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, wants to stay at the Bombers.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a free agent. He\u2019ll be an unrestricted free agent \u2026 which means the Bombers couldn\u2019t match a rival deal for him,\u201d Twomey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he is in talks at the moment on a new deal and he\u2019s keen to stay at Essendon.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d think that\u2019ll be a longer-term deal for Kyle Langford.\u201d<\/p>\n
