What initially motivated you to have a crack at being a comedian? <\/strong><\/p>\n I was doing a lot of writing and presenting in my day job, and I found I was cramming in quite a few jokes.<\/p>\n Rather than write increasingly inappropriate strategy documents, I thought I\u2019d try some actual comedy writing.<\/p>\n It was only after I\u2019d finished writing my first set that I realised I had to confront the terrifying prospect of actually getting up on stage to perform it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Are there any particular themes that you like to feature in your work?\u00a0 What draws you to these themes?<\/strong><\/p>\n I get drawn to the absurdist, things that don\u2019t make sense when you think about them too hard. Like child-proof containers. A proper child-proof container would only open when it detected that your room was clean and your homework was done.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The past couple of years have been pretty tough for the entertainment industry. How has your practice been affected by COVID? Has there been little change or has it had a substantial effect?<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Savaged. A lot of comedy tends to take place in small poorly ventilated rooms which have become significantly less popular than in The Before Times, and online comedy is one of the more harrowing experiences you can put yourself through on the internet outside of Bendigo Have Your Say.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
