{"id":83047,"date":"2022-05-26T04:36:37","date_gmt":"2022-05-25T17:36:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=83047"},"modified":"2022-05-25T18:34:52","modified_gmt":"2022-05-25T07:34:52","slug":"walls-bullish-on-blues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/sport\/walls-bullish-on-blues\/","title":{"rendered":"Walls bullish on Blues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">ROBERT Walls predicts Carlton will be in finals contention for the next five years, saying there remains considerable upside about their young list.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Blues are surging under new coach Michael Voss and are expected to challenge for the top four this season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">While Walls has been a critic of Carlton in the past, he has heaped praise on the club after a period \u201cin the wilderness\u201d without much on-field success.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Carlton great said football was better when the big Victorian clubs were firing, saying the \u201cquite young\u201d Blues were primed for a sustained period of success.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s been so long since Carlton has been anywhere near [contending for a premiership], it\u2019s been a couple of generations in football they\u2019ve been in the wilderness,\u201d he said on <em>SEN Breakfast<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cYou need your Richmond, Carlton and Collingwood\u2019s [high up on the ladder] to have a really strong and vibrant AFL scene.
