A NEW interfaith library will be built at the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion.<\/p>\n
The space will store books and artefacts from faiths and religions around the world with the items available for viewing by visitors.<\/p>\n
Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards announced funding of just over $430,000 for the library last week, from the State Government\u2019s Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Great Stupa is well known as a place of cultural and religious diversity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a welcoming and peaceful place where people from all backgrounds can come together and celebrate their faith.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new library will be an added benefit to those who seek information and religious teachings from across the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Edwards said the State Government offers up to $500,000 for organisations to upgrade or renovate infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccessible and safe community facilities are essential for all Victorians as we recover from the pandemic and we are investing to support multicultural communities to build connections and share diversity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are committed to providing multicultural and multifaith Victorian\u2019s access to modern facilities where culture and traditions are celebrated and preserved.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is a Buddhist building located in Myers Flat. It is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 10.30am to 5pm on weekends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
