{"id":83689,"date":"2022-07-05T04:57:19","date_gmt":"2022-07-04T17:57:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=83689"},"modified":"2022-06-27T17:38:34","modified_gmt":"2022-06-27T06:38:34","slug":"rom-com-songs-coming-to-stage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/rom-com-songs-coming-to-stage\/","title":{"rendered":"Rom-com songs coming to stage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">LEADING lady Lucy Durack has announced a new tour that will see her bring the best romantic comedy film soundtracks to Ulumbarra Theatre on Sunday, 27 November.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The singer and musical theatre star said her latest show, Rom-Comcert, promises \u201ca night of unapologetic romance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;I watched <em>Sleepless in Seattle<\/em> at the movies as a 10-year-old with my aunt and uncle and have been in love with rom-coms ever since,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI soon discovered that a rom-com is nothing without its soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI fell in love with listening to that soundtrack as well as countless others from <em>When Harry Met Sally<\/em> to <em>You&#8217;ve Got Mail<\/em> to <em>My Best Friend&#8217;s Wedding<\/em> on a loop, allowing myself to dream up my own romantic stories using these songs as a sort of musical filter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The concert will feature standards like <em>Come Away With Me<\/em> from <em>Maid In Manhattan<\/em>, <em>Makin\u2019 Whoopie <\/em>from <em>Sleepless In Seattle, (I\u2019ve Had) The Time Of My Life<\/em> from <em>Dirty Dancing<\/em> and the <em>Titanic<\/em> monster hit <em>My Heart Will Go<\/em> <em>On.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Durack will be joined by theatre veterans Rob Mills and Bert LaBont\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI adore the marriage of a beautiful and funny love story combined with a well-crafted soundtrack, and how together they can make you feel uplifted, full of hope and able to see the good in the world again,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to celebrating that in our Rom-Comcert with two of the cheekiest, funniest, loveliest leading men I could dream of,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Durack rose to fame after playing Glinda the Good Witch in the original Australian cast of <em>Wicked<\/em> and has starred in musicals <em>Legally Blonde<\/em>, <em>The Wizard of Oz<\/em>, <em>Mamma Mia!<\/em> and <em>Shrek<\/em>, as well as television series <em>Sisters <\/em>and <em>Doctor Doctor.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tickets to Rom-Comcert are on sale now at <strong>bit.ly\/3Om7B9e<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LEADING lady Lucy Durack has announced a new tour that will see her bring the best romantic comedy film soundtracks to Ulumbarra Theatre on Sunday, 27 November.
