CASTLEMAINE marked win number two in the \u201922 campaign, defeating Maryborough by thirty four points in Saturday\u2019s eleventh round of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football League season.<\/p>\n
In the clash of the league\u2019s Magpies it was the Don Moran-coached Castlemaine that won every quarter at Camp Reserve.<\/p>\n
Castlemaine led 33-12 at quarter-time and then added 2.2 to 2.6 in the second.<\/p>\n
The Maryborough kept working hard throughout the third, but the \u2018Maine had the answers as it scored 4.1 to 3.2.<\/p>\n
Led by the play of Zac Denahy who kicked a match-high six goals it was Castlemaine which went on to win 13.12 (90) to 8.8 (56).<\/p>\n
The Maryborough defence worked hard to limit Jack Chester, who kicked seven goals against them on Good Friday, to just two majors. Brad Keogh also chipped in with two goals for Castlemaine.<\/p>\n
Maryborough\u2019s attack was led by Kaian Constable with three goals and Patrick Van der Pol on two.<\/p>\n
The in-form Tommy Horne earned best afield honours for Castlemaine as Riley Pedretti, Jackson Hood, Zac Denahy, Will Moran and Keogh all played well.<\/p>\n
Maryborough\u2019s best were Liam Latch, Kya Lanfranchi, Liam Murphy, Patrick Van der Pol, Kaian Constable and Damon Nitschke.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, South Bendigo moved back into the top five after the Bloods beat Eaglehawk by 22 points at Queen Elizabeth Oval.<\/p>\n
Kaiden Antonowicz and Brock Harvey led the Bloods\u2019 attack on five and three goals.<\/p>\n
As the South Bendigo jumped two spots, Sandhurst went from the fifth rung to sixth after a 78-101 loss on Strathfieldsaye Storm\u2019s turf at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.<\/p>\n
James Schischka kicked five goals for Storm.<\/p>\n
Gisborne bounced back from its first defeat of the season and broke Kyneton\u2019s winning streak in a 119-60 result at the Bulldogs\u2019 kennel.<\/p>\n
There, Josh Kemp kicked six goals and Macklan Lord named Gisborne\u2019s best.<\/p>\n
Golden Square\u2019s powerful attack was on show at Kangaroo Flat\u2019s Dower Park in a 161-45 victory for the local Bulldogs.<\/p>\n
Joel Brett and Jayden Burke kicked six and four goals apiece for the blue and gold.<\/p>\n
The Bendigo Football Netball League now heads into a bye week with no games on Saturday, 2 July.<\/p>\n
