Mr Smith was just like anyone else driving past the track when he noticed the tiny cars zipping around the miniature speedway.<\/p>\n
\u201cI drove past one day when they were running, though that looks interesting, so I came down for a look and joined up straight away,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe get so many people coming, they\u2019ll pull up and watch. We get that all day, and a lot of people coming up and standing. Kids come in and watch, they love it. It\u2019s quite a good spectator thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Smith said there\u2019s a big focus on newcomers at the club, with junior programs for kids able to race cars straight off the toyshop shelf.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a real progression path,\u201d he said. \u201cWe find people get in with the ready to run classes, they start out with that and then they want to go faster and faster and they go up the classes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re finding that a lot now, people that started in the beginner classes are now moving up.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Mr Smith, BORRCC is the biggest club in Victoria. It will host its marquee event, the Bendigo Classic, in October.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
