{"id":84281,"date":"2022-08-02T04:58:54","date_gmt":"2022-08-01T18:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=84281"},"modified":"2022-07-27T16:42:00","modified_gmt":"2022-07-27T06:42:00","slug":"artistic-event-sure-to-inspire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/artistic-event-sure-to-inspire\/","title":{"rendered":"Artistic event sure to inspire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">CREATIVES from central Victoria and beyond will converge on Bendigo\u2019s arts precinct this September for a new two-day event.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Presented by the Emporium Creative Hub, Conflux Bendigo is a \u201cbusiness event crossed with a festival\u201d designed for artists, performers and creators to come together, share their work and develop ideas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Manager of Emporium, David Hughes, said the event has been designed to help creatives further their practice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThey can come along and be part of discussions around getting large scale commission work or a creative vision for regional Victoria,\u201d he said. \u201cThey can be part of workshops, or they can come and be inspired by some of the performances we\u2019ve got going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The theme of Conflux this year is Brave New World, and Mr Hughes said the aim is to explore how technological innovations work alongside creativity.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_84282\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-84282\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-84282\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/07\/A08I8413-scaled-e1658904060234-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/07\/A08I8413-scaled-e1658904060234-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/07\/A08I8413-scaled-e1658904060234-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/07\/A08I8413-scaled-e1658904060234-272x182.jpeg 272w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/07\/A08I8413-scaled-e1658904060234.jpeg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-84282\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Guest speakers across the two days of Conflux Bendigo include founder and editor of OAK Magazine, Kimberley Furness.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt comes about from looking back at the last couple of years and how we\u2019ve been through COVID and looking at what the future holds, and how we look to integrate technology,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c[It\u2019s] looking at our response in terms of interactive performance and just exploring all of those topics and what they mean for creatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Speakers from all over Victoria, as well as Sydney and Adelaide, include the minds behind CreateA Arts Company, Arena Theatre Company, Oak Magazine, Hebron Films, Nacho Station and more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">They will be joined by the likes of visual artist Baby Guerrilla, digital innovator Nick Dunstone and writers Jenny Valentish and Ben Eltham.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Live music will be performed by\u00a0Jae Laffer, Louisa Terra, Geoffrey Williams, and Mick Trembath.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe\u2019re keen to strike that balance that showcases what\u2019s happening in regional Victoria but also brings in people from other areas that are doing fantastic stuff that serves to further inspire the work that\u2019s already happening here,\u201d Mr Hughes said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Conflux Bendigo takes place on 9 and 10 September.
