{"id":84407,"date":"2022-08-04T04:57:52","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T18:57:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=84407"},"modified":"2022-08-04T10:11:15","modified_gmt":"2022-08-04T00:11:15","slug":"work-underway-at-parenting-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/work-underway-at-parenting-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Work underway at parenting centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NEW parents will soon have more access to early parenting support with construction of Kennington\u2019s early parenting centre is officially underway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Premier Daniel Andrews visited the site last week to turn the first sod on the facility, which will have 10 residential family units, four day-stay places, a kitchen and dining area, play areas and multi-purpose rooms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBeing a new parent can be the most rewarding experience, but it can also be really tough,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019re giving new parents the helping hand they need, close to home, by investing in new and refurbished early parenting centres across Victoria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the State Government, the EPC has been designed to create a \u201csafe and serene environment\u201d for families to feel comfortable in.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_84409\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-84409\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-84409\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/08\/BE_PlayArea-e1659414456364-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-84409\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The EPC will feature residential units, a kitchen and dining area, multi-purpose rooms and play areas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Melbourne-based company Brand Architects collaborated with local community groups and traditional owners on the design process, with the colour palette of the centre inspired by native flora and the environment of the Loddon Mallee region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards, said the EPC is designed to support families who would\u2019ve had to travel to Melbourne to receive advice and care, including sleep and settling support and feeding care.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFacilities like this are great for new parents, they give you the certainty that when things go wrong, or you wonder if you\u2019re doing something right, you won\u2019t have to leave Bendigo to get the support you need,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The EPC will be operated by Bendigo Health and is part of the State Governments $148 million project to expand the early parenting service across Victoria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Construction is expected to be finished by early 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW parents will soon have more access to early parenting support with construction of Kennington\u2019s early parenting centre is officially underway.
