THERE are five teams left in the running for the Bendigo Netball League A Grade premiership after the conclusion of the home and away season.<\/p>\n
While the make up of the final five has been known for some time, who\u2019d play who was still in question with results in last Saturday\u2019s 18th and final round effecting positions.<\/p>\n
In what was essentially a dead rubber, Strathfieldsaye took on Golden Square and all that was at stake for the Bulldogs was the opportunity to escape the season with one win.<\/p>\n
It didn\u2019t happen though as the Storm went on to record a 60-40 victory, with their 2022 campaign ending in second to last place.<\/p>\n
The shock of the round came at Camp Reserve, where Castlemaine were able to edge out then table topping Sandhurst by a single goal, 47 to 46.<\/p>\n
The Dragon\u2019s not only lost the game, but also the week\u2019s rest, with Kangaroo Flat going into first on the ladder on percentage.<\/p>\n
Playing at South Bendigo, the Roos made no mistake, registering a 40 to 59 victory over fellow finals contender the Bloods.<\/p>\n
Two matches were played down the highway where third placed finisher Gisborne dispatched Eaglehawk 50 to 35, while at Kyneton sixth placed Tigers took a 48 to 43 win over Maryborough – who rounded out their season in seventh place.<\/p>\n
Focus now turns to Queen Elizabeth Oval as the venue plays host to all BNL finals games.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Sandhurst will take on Gisborne with the winner through to the semi final where they\u2019ll meet Kangaroo Flat.<\/p>\n
The loser gets the double chance and will battle the victor in Sunday\u2019s elimination final between Castlemaine and South Bendigo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
