FORMER GWS coach Leon Cameron has denied reports linking him to a role at the Western Bulldogs.<\/p>\n
SEN\u2019s Sam Edmund recently reported that the Bulldogs were considering bringing Cameron – who played 172 games for the club as a player before working as an assistant from 2004 to 2010 – back to the Kennel in a football capacity.<\/p>\n
While the report suggested the club was simply starting \u201cinformal\u201d talks with the 49-year-old, Cameron said he and his family won\u2019t be shifting away from Sydney for at least another year as his children complete their schooling.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, I actually heard that from my daughter,\u201d Cameron said on AFL Nation<\/em> in response to whether he\u2019d spoken to the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s doing year 12 and I said, \u2018What are you ringing me for you should be studying\u2019, she said, \u2018I\u2019ve just heard you\u2019ve been talking to the Bulldogs\u2019, so I said, \u2018No, no we haven\u2019t\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cSo no, there hasn\u2019t been [any negotiations] and I heard that during the week.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re really comfortable here, I\u2019ve got three kids here and my second child Harry is going into year 11.<\/p>\n \u201cWe plan to be staying for at least the next 12 to 24 months.\u201d<\/p>\n Having spent the majority of his life in the industry across multiple positions, Cameron said he\u2019s looking forward to seeing \u201cwhat else is out there\u201d despite knowing his itch to get back involved in football will eventually surface.<\/p>\n \u201cI think a bit of time out after 34 years from playing into assisting into senior coaching [is what\u2019s best],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cJust to sort of see what else is out there.<\/p>\n \u201cAs every day, week and month goes on there\u2019s no doubt the itch will become a bit bigger, and you\u2019ll want to get straight back into it.<\/p>\n \u201cWhether that\u2019s as a senior assistant or in a different path as a football manager or as a senior coach again, there\u2019s no doubt it\u2019ll be there.<\/p>\n \u201cBut, right now, I\u2019m just enjoying being a little bit normal.\u201d<\/p>\n Cameron parted ways with the Giants in May after nine years in charge and has recently been working in the media with SEN and AFL Nation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
