VICTORIOUS coach Brodie Collins declared it was not just Lockington Bamawm United FNC which would celebrate the senior footy team\u2019s latest grand final victory.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole district will be abuzz,\u201d Collins said after last Saturday\u2019s hard-fought win over Mount Pleasant.<\/p>\n
It was LBU which scored the last three goals of the match after Mounts was within three points in the 21st minute of the final quarter.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been an incredible run,\u201d Collins said. \u201cThere were many things going through my mind late in the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main thing was to show we were up for the fight, and we did.\u201d<\/p>\n
Collins said LBU had learnt a lot after being outplayed by Mount Pleasant for most of the second semi final at Gunbower.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe knew our workrate at the contest had to lift,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was not easy, but we watched the footage from the second semi and saw areas we had to be better at to beat Mounts in the grand final.\u201d<\/p>\n
There were many outstanding contributors in the grand final victory, but Collins praised the play of on-baller Marcus Angove, aka Rowdy, for his play in all four finals matches.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis skills and two-way run are outstanding,\u201d Collins said.<\/p>\n
Mateship has played a big part in LBU\u2019s success in recent years with more than two-thirds of the 22 who took to the field in the grand final playing for the Cats as juniors.<\/p>\n
Collins praised the entire club for its support across the past three years.<\/p>\n
