{"id":85378,"date":"2022-09-15T04:44:15","date_gmt":"2022-09-14T18:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=85378"},"modified":"2022-09-14T20:42:34","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T10:42:34","slug":"panthers-celebrate-premiership-trifecta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/sport\/panthers-celebrate-premiership-trifecta\/","title":{"rendered":"Panthers celebrate premiership trifecta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MARONG Football Netball Club marked a rare feat in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League\u2019s 2022 season.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers joined an elite group to have won premierships across all three grades of football in the same year.<\/p>\n<p>Beaten just once in the home and away series, the Linton Jacobs-coached Marong stamped its mark on a brilliant 2022 by winning the grand final against Bridgewater by 94 points.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers charged to a 43-nil lead by quarter-time of the clash at Marist College Bendigo oval in Maiden Gully and did not let up.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_85380\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-85380\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-85380\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/09\/Reserves_Footy_Marong_4022-scaled-e1663152047338-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-85380\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Panthers\u2019 reveres side lifted the cup after defeating Pyramid Hill.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the next two terms Marong scored 4.3 and 6.4 as Bridgewater added two points and then a point.<\/p>\n<p>The Rick Ladson-coached Bridgewater endured a tough run to the season decider after wins in the elimination final, first semi and preliminary.<\/p>\n<p>Led by brilliance of gun forward Brandyn Grenfell, onballer and captain Corey Gregg, and Jimmy Gadsden, Marong went on to the grand final, 19.11 (125) to 4.7 (31).<\/p>\n<p>It was the club\u2019s first senior premiership since 1989.<\/p>\n<p>Leg two of the premiership trifecta was in the reserves where the Jarrod Harris-coached Marong beat Pyramid Hill by 22 points.<\/p>\n<p>Unbeaten in the run to the grand final, a wayward Marong was leading 2.11 to 3.4 at three quarter-time, but then added 3.4 to a point in the last for a 45-23 victory.<\/p>\n<p>Adrian Pappin led the Panthers attack on three goals to be among the best with Josh Cooper, Thomas Wilson and Matthew Willox.<\/p>\n<p>Marong\u2019s cubs kicked off grand final day by winning the under-18s clash with Bridgewater.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_85381\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-85381\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-85381\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/09\/U18-Footy_Marong_3971-scaled-e1663152129686-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/09\/U18-Footy_Marong_3971-scaled-e1663152129686-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/09\/U18-Footy_Marong_3971-scaled-e1663152129686-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/09\/U18-Footy_Marong_3971-scaled-e1663152129686-272x182.jpg 272w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2022\/09\/U18-Footy_Marong_3971-scaled-e1663152129686.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-85381\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marong\u2019s under 18s had a comprehensive win over Bridgewater.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Zack Turnbull and Patty Gretgrix-coached Panthers won all quarters in 79-27 victory.<\/p>\n<p>Best afield honours went to Jacob Manning who kicked five goals as Noah McCaig, Ben Cruise and Kai Terrill were in hot form for the Panthers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MARONG Football Netball Club marked a rare feat in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League\u2019s 2022 season.
