THOSE with a penchant for online role-playing games will have a chance to get off screen and in person at two come and try events for the classic Dungeons and Dragons tabletop fantasy board game.<\/p>\n
The Bendigo Library sessions will be hosted by long-time dungeon master and Bendigo local Thomas Moore, who said anyone interested is encouraged to show up and play in a \u201cshort, simple adventure\u201d using the game\u2019s 5th Edition rules.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is nothing else you’d need to do,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Library and I are supplying dice, premade character sheets, and I will have my extensive and heavy personal library of Dungeons and Dragons books with me.<\/p>\n
\u201cShow up, pick one of the ten premade characters, and have a go.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking from experience, Mr Moore said Dungeons and Dragons, and tabletop role-playing games in general, as well as the social aspect can provide numerous personal benefits.<\/p>\n
\u201cTabletop games helped me to be a better storyteller, helped me to be a better communicator, planner, and to gain a better understanding of who I am as a person, how I react under pressure, how I tend to behave around people who want or need my help,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has helped friends come to terms with their sexuality or gender identity, helped people who struggle to make themselves understood, be more communicative and more courageous.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut most of all, it’s really, really fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
