GET up close and personal with some of the biggest and best architecture the municipality has to offer when Open House Bendigo returns next month.<\/p>\n
On the weekend of 22 and 23 October, more than 20 local projects, buildings and public spaces will be on display, with residents and visitors invited to explore the history and future of the region.<\/p>\n
The program features talks from architects and presentations on Galkangu Bendigo GovHub, designed by Lyons, the Bendigo Law Courts designed by John Wardle Architects, and Bendigo TAFE, completed by Architectus in partnership with Six Degrees.<\/p>\n
The La Trobe Arts Institute, designed by Peter Elliot, will serve as the \u201cfestival hub\u201d for the weekend, with Elliot hosting a tour and conversation about the building.<\/p>\n
City of Greater Bendigo mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said the weekend offers a chance to explore the region\u2019s buildings in depth.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am delighted to see the return of Open House Bendigo, a hugely popular weekend in our events calendar where residents and visitors to our region can see and experience architectural excellence firsthand,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith Bendigo\u2019s skyline changing, the Open House program provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the qualities of contemporary and heritage design in equal measure and to learn more about the unique creative collaboration with Bendigo\u2019s Traditional Owners of the land, the Dja Dja Wurrung People.\u201d<\/p>\n
Djaara will conduct a special walk on country, exploring the Reimagining Bendigo Creek plan.<\/p>\n
