THE State Labor Government has pledged to fund another major upgrade at White Hills Primary School if re-elected this November.<\/p>\n
Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan, visited students last Friday to announce a commitment of $9.23 million for a new gymnasium and music classroom.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery family deserves a great local school, and the Andrews Labor Government will build a new gymnasium so that kids at White Hills Primary School have the world-class facilities they deserve,\u201d Ms Allan said.<\/p>\n
In the 2019\/20 State Government budget, White Hills Primary received $4.6 million to modernise old buildings and facilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the last four years the Andrews Labor Government funded and delivered a big upgrade to the school,\u201d Ms Allan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are now getting on with the next stage as part of our commitment to continue to invest in schools, students and staff.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the State Government, $12.8 billion has been spent on building and upgrading schools since being elected in 2014.<\/p>\n
The money forms part of a plan to build 100 new schools across the state by 2026. So far 75 have been funded or opened.<\/p>\n
Education minister Natalie Hutchins said thousands of students are now learning in more modern classrooms.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur teachers do an amazing job educating Victorian students and that\u2019s why we deliver so many new and upgraded classrooms and facilities at schools right across the state,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
