USING the agony of grand final defeat to motivate is something Strathfieldsaye has done before and will again.<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of Saturday\u2019s loss to Gisborne, Storm co-coach Darryl Wilson said he was incredibly proud of the team\u2019s run to a seventh clash for the premiership cup in eight seasons.<\/p>\n

Storm was chasing a fifth senior premiership, but would be denied by Gisborne.<\/p>\n

There were many factors to be looked at, but Wilson said Gisborne\u2019s work around stoppages was superior to Storm\u2019s for most of the match.<\/p>\n

\u201cConditions were incredibly tough for all players, but we really battled to get a flow into our game,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to Gisborne. They have been the benchmark all year. Today you proved how good you are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although disappointed in defeat, Wilson said Storm had played two excellent finals to be in the season decider.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am absolutely proud of you all,\u201d he told the players.<\/p>\n

Later in the rooms, Wilson said Storm had the nucleus to contend again in \u201923 and beyond.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just have to keep working and always strive to be better,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
