BENDIGO\u2019S rich architectural culture is set to go on show with the return of the town\u2019s Open House weekend this Saturday, 22 and Sunday 23 October.<\/p>\n
The two-day event will place spotlight on architectural quality across the region, with the program offering special access to a range of historic and contemporary buildings.<\/p>\n
Sites taking part in the weekend include La Trobe University library, Eaglehawk\u2019s former town hall – now Star Cinema, Emporium Creative Hub and Bendigo TAFE Revitalisation Project.<\/p>\n
The event will also aim to celebrate buildings, spaces and new projects through a mini-marathon talk series looking at new developments that form part of Bendigo\u2019s Big Build projects.<\/p>\n
Open House executive director and chief curator Fleur Watson said organisers are excited to be back after the COVID pandemic.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Open House team is delighted to return to Bendigo for the 2022 Open House Bendigo Program,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year we are pleased to be working closely with Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation, the Greater City of Bendigo and the La Trobe Institute of Arts \u2013 the latter of which will be the OHB Festival Hub.\u201d<\/p>\n
The weekend begins on Saturday, 22 October with a joint Walk on Country, Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony.<\/p>\n
That event will include aspects of the Reimagining Bendigo Creek plan, which is a joint project between Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation and the City of Greater Bendigo.<\/p>\n
Day one also includes tours, workshops and events, with a focus on the city\u2019s new major State Government buildings.<\/p>\n
Sunday will see talk on the La Trobe Arts Institute with a workthough of the building and insites from those involved in the project.<\/p>\n
