A WINERY in the Heathcote region has received State Government backing for a new tourism development.<\/p>\n
Sanguine Estate is set to receive $300,000 to expand the cellar door offering as part of a project that aims to increase the winery\u2019s ability to host tasting and food events, and education programs.<\/p>\n
Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos, visited Sanguine Estate last week to announce the money.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re backing attractions across the state, drawing more visitors to Victoria\u2019s regional destinations while supporting the jobs and businesses that call them home,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cVictoria\u2019s Goldfields already provide a broad offering of experiences and this latest attraction will encourage visitors to slow down, stay longer and see more.\u201d<\/p>\n
Established in 1997, Sanguine produces red wines with a focus on Shiraz and Shiraz blends and has 50 acers of grape vines.<\/p>\n
A statement from the State Government said the $300,000 spend would employ four full people during construction work and 16 indirect jobs once finished.<\/p>\n
Currently Sanguine Estate can handle up to 220 attendees during events and that number is set to increase to 400 once the works are complete.<\/p>\n
Sanguine Estate CEO Jodi Marsh welcomed the funding announcement.<\/p>\n
