STAFF and students at Huntly Primary School have been promised new buildings should Labor win November\u2019s State Election.<\/p>\n
Deputy Premier and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan made the $13 million pledge on Monday, which would see the school expand to cater to 100 additional enrolments.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to make an important election commitment for Huntly Primary and the broader Huntly community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been talking to the school about the pressures of growth in Huntly, so I\u2019m thrilled a re-elected Andrews Labor Government would invest these funds in new school buildings here to accommodate that growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will continue to build on the great work here at the school.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alongside Huntly Primary School, more than $9 million has been pledged to White Hills Primary School to help implement stage two of their masterplan.<\/p>\n
Ms Allan said the pledge highlighted the State Government\u2019s commitment to regional schools.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Andrews Labor Government has a very firm commitment in investing in our regional schools,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether that\u2019s investing in new buildings, but also importantly, investing in what goes on in schools.\u201d<\/p>\n
Huntly Primary School can cater to 275 students, with 11 classrooms, and a 12th portable building expected to be introduced next year.<\/p>\n
The State previously allocated more than $250,000 to the school for outdoor hard courts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
