THE future of the world game is strong in the Bendigo region if the recipients of the Maxine Crouch and Cyril Michelsen trust funds at this year\u2019s Sports Star Awards is anything to go by.<\/span><\/p>\n

Round ball devotees Silver Bell Morris took the Maxine Crouch while Ryan Kalms the Cyril Michelsen as both were chosen from the overall 15 finalists.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neither of the stars were available on the night but sent video recordings thanking family, friends and sponsors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Morris recently represented Australia at the under-18 Asian Football Federation Women\u2019s Championship and signed a scholarship contract with Western United\u2019s Women\u2019s A-League side.<\/span><\/p>\n

She thanked those who had assisted her over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to show my gratitude to the people who have helped me along my journey,\u201d she said. \u201cThey all helped me to get where I am today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Kalms who was on tour representing the Australian under-17 side overseas said he was grateful to take home the Cyril Michelsen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honour for me to receive the award for the scholarship trust fund,\u201d he said. \u201cI am deeply honoured by the recognition for my work and being considered worthy of this award.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Kalms also said he was hoping for a future in one of the world\u2019s largest football leagues.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy goals are far from over with my ultimate goal to play in the English Premier League and represent my country at senior level,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
