The Marong Men\u2019s Shed has opened its doors to Your Women\u2019s Shed Bendigo Region members and giving them access to a woodworking space as well as instruction on the use of tools and materials.<\/p>\n
YWSBR vice president Sally Hutchinson said the group will have access to the Men\u2019s Shed every Wednesday allowing them to add another weekly venture for members.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a new and exciting thing for us,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cUntil we can get our own facilities the Marong Men\u2019s Shed has been fantastic by offering us this one day a week where we can come out and start our woodworking skill development.<\/p>\n
\u201cUp until this time all we have been able to offer is cards, games, and arts and crafts as well as a social day on Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Hutchinson said the group already has plans for what they want to achieve in the space.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of the projects we are looking at doing include making cheese boards and bird\u2019s houses. Another one is refurbishing furniture,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
YWSBR president Cathleen Farrelly said the group\u2019s members are pleased to access the workshop while they are on the lookout for a permanent home in Bendigo.<\/p>\n
\u201cIdeally, we would like it to be accessible by public transport for those who can\u2019t use, or don\u2019t have access to a car,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut anywhere in the Bendigo region that allows us to be able to do woodwork, continue our crafts and sewing as well as a being a suitable meeting place would be ideal.\u201d<\/p>\n
Marong Men\u2019s Shed member Graham Johns said the women are welcome to the workshop for as long as needed.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour Women\u2019s Shed approached us because they didn\u2019t have anywhere to go, and we only utilise the space Monday and Friday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, we asked if they could do Wednesday and they said they could, so they are more than welcome to the shed. It\u2019s just sitting here.\u201d<\/p>\n
