THE Raglan Street Jazz concert was held in Huntly recently with the aim of raising money for a couple of good causes.<\/p>\n
Organiser, Bill Knight, said the event team is pleased with how the day went.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a very successful and enjoyable day, along with several donations we raised $2500,\u201d said Mr Knight.<\/p>\n
The money will be donated to Rochester and Elmore District Community Health for their community in-house support program.<\/p>\n
Mr Knight said he was grateful to all those who turned up to support the cause, both guests and those who worked behind the scenes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a capacity crowd with a lot of country people, including a large contingent from Rochester keen on supporting their local hospital,\u201d said Mr Knight.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt takes many volunteers, tickets, flyers, donation of sandwiches and slices, working in the kitchen, front door, setting up the hall and working closely with the long-serving secretary of Huntly Hall, Margaret Pitson.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maryborough Traditional Jazz Ensemble was the feature band of the show.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the years several jazz concerts have been held at Huntly for the Cancer Council, the idea to extend this for Rochester flood victims was an obvious one,\u201d said Mr Knight.<\/p>\n
Mr Knight said he hopes the funds raised will assist people whose homes were impacted by the spring 2022 floods.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing a native of Rochester, the floods last October were deeply personal for me, as I have two brothers and one sister and married partners who are displaced,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully, their situation improves within the coming months, and they are able to return to their homes.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
