A NEW book celebrating an almost four-decades-old Bendigo children\u2019s choir was officially launched last Sunday.<\/p>\n
Sing Dream Belong<\/em> – A History of the Bendigo Youth Choir <\/em>was co-authored by the group\u2019s founder Valerie Broad, and Mary Pomfret, and launched by Former State Premier and Federal Member for Bendigo, John Brumby.<\/p>\n Broad said she hoped the book will serve as a legacy to all those involved in the choir over its nearly four-decade history.<\/p>\n \u201cToday is a day to which I\u2019ve looked forward for a very, very long time. And as I stand here, I feel such a sense of exaltation, it\u2019s a dream come true,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been an extraordinary journey and was very emotional to write.<\/p>\n \u201cI have read it so many times that I\u2019ve almost memorised it as I relive the feelings and remember the faces of all those who shared the journey, and now through the pages of this book, we can share those memories and emotions with you.\u201d<\/p>\n Pomfret said the \u201cunderlying theme\u201d which came up as it was written was the \u201clove and care\u201d that the choir members had for one another.<\/p>\n \u201cThe book is a tangible and poignant record of the amazing achievements of the Bendigo Youth Choir,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe book and the stories it contains is a testament to Valerie\u2019s vision and her belief in the power of music to heal and transform lives.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr Brumby said the book was essentially a tribute to Broad\u2019s contributions to Bendigo, the state, and the nation, and to all the choir participants and supporters over the years.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m proud to be here just less than four decades later, and the story is far from over,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The book launch was held at St Andrew\u2019s Uniting Church on Sunday 18 June and copies can be obtained by calling 0427 250 768.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A NEW book celebrating an almost four-decades-old Bendigo children\u2019s choir was officially launched last Sunday.
