KANGAROO Flat Coles has finished fifth in Victoria for the total money raised in this year\u2019s FightMND Big Freeze fundraiser.<\/p>\n
The $44,400 raised was also the fifth-highest amount of money in the country, with Victorian supermarkets topping the leaderboard.<\/p>\n
Coles Sebastopol in Ballarat was in first place, raising more than $62,000 of the $8.3 million nationwide.<\/p>\n
Patron of FightMND Neale Daniher thanked those who supported the cause this year following the King\u2019s Birthday game at the MCG where celebrities slide into an ice pool to raise money.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is not just about the slide and the MCG,\u201d he said. \u201cAs this year we had Big Freeze games in Perth and Brisbane and are looking to grow again next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost importantly we need to recognise and thank all the wonderful Australians around the country who purchased beanies, socks and scarves or donated to the cause.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coles Group general manager of corporate and Indigenous affairs Sally Feilke said she was proud to see the number of blue beanies purchased at stores and money raised by shoppers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can\u2019t thank our customers and suppliers enough for supporting the Big Freeze 9 campaign and helping us reach another incredible fundraising milestone,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
