{"id":90841,"date":"2023-07-21T04:36:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-20T18:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=90841"},"modified":"2023-07-19T19:57:50","modified_gmt":"2023-07-19T09:57:50","slug":"justin-langers-lands-new-ipl-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/sport\/justin-langers-lands-new-ipl-job\/","title":{"rendered":"Justin Langer\u2019s lands new IPL job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JUSTIN Langer will take the reins of Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants next season in his first coaching gig since resigning from his job with the Australia men\u2019s team.<\/p>\n<p>Langer was unveiled by the Super Giants on Friday night, with the former opener to succeed Andy Flower from 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The 52-year-old departed as Australia\u2019s coach in controversial fashion last year after only being offered a six-month contract extension.<\/p>\n<p>He oversaw an extremely successful run during Australian cricket, including an Ashes and World Cup win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLucknow Super Giants are on the journey of building a great story in the IPL,\u201d Langer said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all have a role to play in that journey and I am excited to be a part of the team moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lucknow has finished third in both of their two seasons in the IPL.<\/p>\n<p>Langer has still found himself a part of the Australian cricket summer with his commentary roles through Channel Seven.<\/p>\n<p>He turned the Perth Scorchers into the most successful BBL title during a stint west before earning the Australia job in the wake of Sandpapergate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; SEB MOTTRAM\/ SEN\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JUSTIN Langer will take the reins of Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants next season in his first coaching gig since resigning from his job with the Australia men\u2019s team.
