AN upcoming ballot being run by Australia Post is asking Huntly residents how they\u2019d like mail delivered to households in the suburb.<\/p>\n
Presently, residents are required to retrieve their post from the Huntly Post Office.<\/p>\n
However, a potential direct-to-property mail service could be introduced if 50 per cent or more of the voters favour this change.<\/p>\n
Currently, residents have the option of having their mail sent to post office boxes at a discounted rate or collecting it over the counter.<\/p>\n
Should the proposed alteration take effect, residents will need to install letterboxes on their properties.<\/p>\n
Those who wish to retain their existing PO boxes may do so, although the reduced rate will be discontinued.<\/p>\n
If residents do not have a PO box or a letterbox, their mail will be held at the post office for a maximum of one month before being returned to the sender.<\/p>\n
\u201cBallot forms will be hand-delivered to households on Saturday 12 August by an Australia Post team member and taken to the Huntly Post Office for collection if no one is home,\u201d said an Australia Post spokesperson.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe strongly encourage Huntly locals to take part in the mail poll to make sure their preference for mail delivery is taken into account.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocals can also support the poll by talking to their friends and neighbours and reminding them to return their ballot forms ahead of the 11 September closing date.\u201d<\/p>\n
