A NEW pipeline spanning five kilometres will soon bring drinking water to homes in Bendigo\u2019s northern suburbs.<\/p>\n
Part of Coliban Water\u2019s Big Water Build, the pipeline will service approximately 6200 residences in Huntly, Epsom, Ascot, and Wellsford.<\/p>\n
With the aim of improving water pressure in Epsom and Huntly, State Minister for Water, Harriet Shing, said the benefits of the project will be immediate.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal residents will be able to notice an improvement in water pressure, including during periods of peak demand this Summer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAssets like this pipeline enable us to better respond to the challenges of climate change and population growth and are an important part of delivering long-term security of supply across the water network.\u201d<\/p>\n
At a cost of $5.8 million, the Epsom-Huntly pipeline was built to meet the needs of a growing population in the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe pipeline will complement our existing water supply network and is part of major investment planned for the region, to meet the needs of a growing population and changing climate,\u201d said Coliban Water\u2019s chief officer of assets and operations Danny McLean.<\/p>\n
The pipeline has been built between the intersection of Howard and Station streets in Epsom and Rennie Street and Gungurru Road in Huntly.<\/p>\n
Testing is currently underway with the pipeline due to be turned on in October in time for the summer peak period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
