JUNIOR school students at Girton Grammar are reproducing the classic story of Aladdin for their next production.<\/p>\n
Aladin Jr will be performed by a cast of 170 students from grades 2, 4 and 6, and is directed by Jenney Geyer and Lucy-Butler Rees.<\/p>\n
Geyer said the students have been rehearsing since term 2 to bring audiences classic songs from the musical.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a colourful, joyful and energetic show, with high-quality performances that reflect the many hours of hard work all the students have put in,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe students have embraced the challenge of learning the songs and choreography, and enjoy the camaraderie of performing with their peers.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Butler-Rees, the junior school production is a chance for students to learn how theatre is made and to perform onstage, sometimes for the first time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey love seeing \u2018behind the scenes\u2019 as they get to experience the backstage and dressing rooms,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAdded to that, the fun of dressing up in the costumes, the lights, and the opportunity to create a performance that brings joy to their families makes it an unforgettable experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have watched many students discover a love for theatre and performing through their experience in the Junior School Production that they carry on throughout Senior School and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n
