{"id":93163,"date":"2023-11-21T04:57:56","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T17:57:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=93163"},"modified":"2023-11-15T14:53:50","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T03:53:50","slug":"carols-to-connect-maiden-gully-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/carols-to-connect-maiden-gully-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Carols to connect Maiden Gully community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CLASSIC Christmas carols are set to resound through the Maiden Gully Recreation Reserve as part of an annual event aimed at celebrating the season.<\/p>\n<p>Run by the Maiden Gully Progress Association and set for early next month, the event will mark the return of the Maiden Gully Carols.<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s president James Proctor said it will be an entertaining evening showcasing local performers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got the Maiden Gully Primary School performing, Marist Brass Band, Village Early Learning, and CBV Dance Studio among others,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sort of carols we\u2019ve had are the traditional ones like Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and Here Come\u2019s Santa, and there\u2019ll be modern repertoires as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Six food vendors will feature in the event as well as free face painting, a barbecue, raffle, and a visit from Santa Claus.<\/p>\n<p>The event saw roughly 1000 attendees last year, which marked the event\u2019s return following COVID lockdowns.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_93165\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-93165\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-93165\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2023\/11\/Heathcote_Xmas_Carols-9-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-93165\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Entertainment on the night will include the always popular Marist Brass Band.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr Proctor said the event is a fixture for Maiden Gully.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe numbers last year were probably a typical amount for us but given there\u2019s some 5000 people in Maiden Gully that\u2019s not a bad turnout,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a comparatively recent resident of Maiden Gully. I moved here about two-and-a-half years ago. When I talk to everyone involved, it\u2019s seen to be a Maiden Gully tradition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, the highlight is being a part of a huge group of people just having a good time.
