There are so many restaurants and cafes, but it\u2019s small enough that you\u2019re always running into all your friends and competitors,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just a really great vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perth\u2019s Luke Durbridge has won here five times. He said it\u2019s worth the trip across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a special place, a special time of year. I\u2019ve been going back and forth ever since I turned professional, so it\u2019s maybe 15 years that I\u2019ve been going to Ballarat,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a really great place, and they\u2019ve done an amazing job. They\u2019ve made it iconic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2015 champion Peta Mullens loves how Ballarat always comes out in support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I enjoy most about racing in Ballarat is the way the community gets behind the event,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the highest level of fandom that I see for an Australian-only cycling event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be my 18th consecutive championships at Buninyong, and I still get excited about the climb, about the spectators.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_93939\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-93939\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-93939\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2023\/12\/sturtst-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-93939\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">For one last time, racing will return to Ballarat\u2019s CBD on the Friday. Photo: Con Chronis<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We\u2019ll leave the last word with reigning champion Luke Plapp, who said he loves Sunday\u2019s party on Mount Buninyong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt three o\u2019clock when everyone\u2019s starting to peak after having a few sherbets, it\u2019s a brilliant atmosphere,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love it as riders, you can feel everyone getting more excited and energetic as the laps count down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s got a special place in my heart, and hopefully we can make this last year the best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Be there roadside to celebrate the final year of RoadNats in Ballarat.
