ONE year after a precarious medical experience, a Korong Vale teenager is grateful to be thriving again.<\/p>\n
On 1 January 2023, a then 18-year-old Tyson Woodman suffered a bad asthma attack which developed into cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n
Mr Woodman had to relearn how to use his body, from eating to walking, but is now back to his old self enough to be working and enjoying life.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m back at work at a local supermarket two days a week, I\u2019m riding dirt bikes and I\u2019m playing footy again next year,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m pumped.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to being able to drive again and hopefully getting a job on a sheep farm this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said he had several people to thank for helping him at the time of the incident and throughout his recovery.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to thank the Wedderburn and Korong Vale communities, and my mates, for their support and care over the last year,\u201d said Mr Woodman.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you to all the emergency services for saving my life that day, especially my mate Glenn Thompson.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Woodman\u2019s grandmother Verneece Woodman said the support of Mr Thompson and one of the first responders on the scene, went \u201cabove and beyond\u201d for her grandson.<\/p>\n
\u201cGlenn regularly visits and checks on Tyson, not only did he save Tyson\u2019s life, but he\u2019s been a fantastic support afterwards,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d also like to thank the ICU Staff at Bendigo Health, all of them were great but there are three in particular who have gone above and beyond: Dana, Dylan and Kelsey.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey got him through the worst days of his life. He\u2019s just got so much love and support around him, from his mates, our family and friends, and the whole community.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a very hard year, but when you see him the way he is, it\u2019s all been worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
