{"id":95899,"date":"2024-04-19T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-18T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=95899"},"modified":"2024-04-17T20:14:54","modified_gmt":"2024-04-17T10:14:54","slug":"gold-gold-gold-for-bendigo-braves-under-12-blue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/sport\/gold-gold-gold-for-bendigo-braves-under-12-blue\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold, Gold, Gold for Bendigo Braves Under 12 Blue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BENDIGO Braves U12 Development Team Blue has achieved an amazing feat, winning gold medals in three of their recent tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>The team of eleven boys also scored silver medals in two other tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Bendigo Junior Braves representative basketball program has been running for many years,&#8221; said team manager Sarah McMillan. &#8220;It is a fantastic achievement to make it into a team with prospective players attending a series of three try-outs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Under 12s is the youngest group with Under 14s, 16s and 18s for both boys and girls.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year there were 30 Bendigo Junior Braves teams.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Once accepted into a team, players commence training in August and finish in April the following year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Each team has a coach, an assistant coach and a team manager,&#8221; said Ms McMillan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They all work closely with the players to aid their development as much as possible and the teams attend a variety of tournaments across the state.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/04\/Harveyfreethrow_92136.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Harvey McMillan shoots for goal during an amazing team effort by the Bendigo Junior Braves Under 12 Blue. In November we competed in the Southern Peninsula Tournament and were runners-up.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We narrowly missed on a finals spot in Shepparton in early December, then were again runners-up in Bendigo in January.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The boys then won the next three tournaments in a row at Wodonga, Benalla and the South Eastern Tournament in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I loved being part of this Junior Braves season as team manager, watching my son and his teammates improve skills and develop fantastic friendships.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a development team, they had such great success.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think it was attributable to the quality coaching and guidance of the Junior Braves program as well as their determination and hard work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Proud parent Matthew Burton said the season had been exceptionally beautiful to watch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The 11 boys in the Under 12 Blue squad have been such a wonderful group to watch play as they worked together.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They all have a great attitude, and it shows on and off the court.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are always smiling and high-fiving each other.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a great group of parents too, and all are understandably very proud.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/04\/Noah_95405.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Teamwork: Noah Burton from Heathcote rose to the occasion along with his teammates.
