Photo: PETER WEAVING<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Teddy Bear Hospital is a not-for-profit program co-ordinated and run by medical students.<\/p>\n<p>Those who visited Girton Grammar have been on placement in Bendigo during the past several weeks, with some experiencing health service delivery in a regional setting for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>As well as the Teddy Bear Hospital, they have spent time at Bendigo Health, Echuca Regional Health and local GP clinics, and have visited a farm.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/05\/PDW_6860_19027.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fun: Teddy Bear Hospital medical students and Girton Grammar School pupils enjoy the GP visit table. Photo: PETER WEAVING<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When the Teddy Bear Hospital visits a school, stations are set up in the classroom that simulate real-life hospital or GP experiences the young children may encounter, providing an opportunity to engage with the &#8216;Teddy Bear doctors&#8217; \u2013 all of whom are student volunteers \u2013 in a fun and educational way.<\/p>\n<p>Examples include asthma, X-ray, allergy, emergency and other interactive stations.<\/p>\n<p>The program also encourages things like healthy eating and hygiene in children in the hope they will implement them in their daily lives.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/05\/PDW_6867_22512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"401\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Smiles: Teddy Bear Hospital medical students enjoy the operating theatre table with Girton Grammar School pupils. Photo: PETER WEAVING<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Monday&#8217;s activities, which involved Foundation \u2013 or Prep \u2013 Girton Grammar pupils, were led by medical students Andrew Dyachkov and Leonie Lac.<\/p>\n<p>Administration and events manager for Girton Grammar&#8217;s Junior School, Jess Potter, described the afternoon as &#8220;fabulous&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The students did a wonderful job.
