WHEN meteorologist and Channel 7 weather presenter Jane Bunn is invited to speak at events in agricultural communities, one of<\/p>\n

the most common questions she receives is ‘What weather app do you use?’<\/p>\n

She soon realised there wasn’t one single app on the market she could recommend, so she developed\u00a0her own.<\/p>\n

Teaming up with software engineer David Hemming, Ms Bunn came up with Jane’s Weather, a one-stop shop for local weather forecasting for use throughout Australia.<\/p>\n

Ms Bunn will share her start-up journey at a free talk in Bendigo on May 28 at Mackenzie Hall in Mackenzie Street, hosted by Startup Central Victoria.<\/p>\n

In conversation with Bendigo’s Caleb Maxwell over lunch, Ms Bunn will share how she came up with a solution to the app problem and will also explain how her participation in a mentoring program helped grow her startup project.<\/p>\n

“Through the chats with the mentor that I was connected with, I found that I was led in directions that I didn’t realise we needed to go and that made me think about things in different ways,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We have been able to get Jane’s Weather Pro into trial phase with more than 150 users co-designing the platform to make sure we’re building exactly what they need.”<\/p>\n

The event will run from 11am to 1pm, with a live stream from 11.30am to 12.30pm.<\/p>\n

Ms Bunn will also encourage aspiring entrepreneurs in the region to apply for a spot in Startup Central Victoria’s free 12-week accelerator program, which will start late next month.<\/p>\n
