AUSTRALIA’s two most legendary crime journalists are set to make a special appearance at The Bendigo Club to raise money for the Blue Ribbon Foundation.<\/p>\n
John Silvester, chief crime writer for The Age, and Andrew Rule, Herald Sun crime writer, will present a marathon two-and-a-half-hour show covering “the inside word from the underworld.”<\/p>\n
The Bendigo Club’s Ash Raeburn said it was set to be an intriguing night full of things that aren’t discussed in the papers or on television.<\/p>\n
“It’s a pretty long show about the real life stories of the people who were involved in the events,” he said.<\/p>\n
“You’ve got the two best crime writers in Australia – they wrote the books that were released at the same time as the Underbelly TV series.<\/p>\n
“It’s a great opportunity to get them in the same room at the one time, and to hear from people who experienced it all.”<\/p>\n
Five dollars from every ticket will be donated to the Blue Ribbon Foundation, which supports many hospitals in Victoria in tribute to members of the Victoria Police who have died while on duty.<\/p>\n
This has included funding for the Norm Curson ICU\/CCU room at Bendigo Hospital, which provides a private place for families of patients in critical care, and the hospital’s William Benbow short stay unit.<\/p>\n
Underbelly: Real life stories from the people who know takes place at The Bendigo Club on June 26 from 8pm, with dinner available beforehand. Tickets can be purchased from The Bendigo Club website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
