I must have said I wanted to dance when I was young because I did jazz, tap, classical and contemporary and loved it. I did try a few ballroom lessons and wasn\u2019t that interested so didn\u2019t continue with them. Later in high school and at university I did not dance as much, with university placements meaning I was in different locations for multiple weeks.<\/p>\n
My memory of starting ballroom dancing as an adult started from a dance stall in a shopping centre. I stopped and chatted to the stall holders and went into a draw to win a three month membership. Later I found out I won and off I went, and it didn’t take long before I was addicted! The ballroom dance journey began, and it is definitely a journey.<\/p>\n
How would you describe your style?<\/strong><\/p>\n I would say my style is a work in progress. It may be a bit reserved at times, but it has elements of elegance and playfulness. I think style can be a challenging thing and is something that takes time to work out what is right for you. I feel my style is influenced by who I am as well as my previous dance training and my coaches, who I\u2019m dancing with and those involved in my dancing. For me, I also find style can change depending on the day, how I am feeling, the music, the environment and all sorts of different things. So I guess you could say it’s evolving, and I think it is a good thing for style to continue to develop.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Which other dancers inspire you?<\/strong><\/p>\n There are a range of dancers of all ages who are inspirational, from my coaches, those I dance with, students, local, Australian and international and professional dancers. All inspirational in their own ways for their love and passion, for their dedication and commitment (and) for their amazing artistry.
